Even more New Jersey
residents, including anyone over the age of 55, are now eligible to make a
COVID-19 vaccine appointments.
The expansion also includes people
16 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Also included are people who work in higher education, communications, real estate, financing, sanitation, laundry service, utility workers and librarians.
“The appointment is easy,”
says Bharat Mehta, of Robbinsville. “I thought I was going to be the only one
in line. I’m looking at the lines and there’s 50,000 people waiting to get in.”
Demand for the vaccine has
been so high that the new FEMA-run site at the NJIT campus in Newark had
to stop accepting walk-ins Sunday.
In less than one month, all adults across the U.S. will become eligible
to get in line for a shot, something Gov. Phil Murphy says New Jersey will be
ready for.
