The courts will soon decide the fate of a Bergen County grandmother facing eviction supposedly because her grandson visits too often.
Rose DiMaria, of Lodi, was in court with her attorney Tuesday to plead her case to be allowed to stay in the home she has lived in for 63 years.
The Lodi Housing Authority says that DiMaria’s grandson and son-in-law are “unauthorized visitors.” DiMaria says that they come over to help her out with day-to-day chores and to take care of her.
"I'm hopeful that as a result of today's hearing that the notification that she's in violation of the lease will be done away with and retracted and that the two people who are presently trespassers, be allowed back on the premises to take care of Mrs. DiMaria,” says attorney Anthony Fiorello.
A decision is expected to be made within the next 10 days.
