Gov. Jon S. Corzine made his first public statement from his hospital room Thursday after he was seriously injured in an automobile crash.
?I?m the most blessed person who ever lived,? Corzine told an Associated Press photographer.
Sitting in a chair next to his hospital bed, Corzine appeared in good spirits as he posed for his first photographs since the April 12 crash on the Garden State Parkway.
The governor was seriously injured when the SUV he was riding in crashed near Atlantic City. Corzine was on his way to a meeting with former radio host Don Imus and the Rutgers women?s basketball team.
Corzine, who was riding in the passenger seat, has not been cited for not wearing his seat belt as required by state law. However, a citizen has filed a complaint against Corzine for not wearing his seat belt. A judge plans to review the complaint next week and decide whether to hold a hearing.
AP wire reports contributed to this report.
