? Governor Jon Corzine (D-NJ) is turning to real estate to decrease New Jersey?s deficit, and that means some prison administrators will have to start paying their own way.

Corzine says he will test the market and try to sell 18 Department of Corrections buildings next to five prisons. Prison officials currently live rent-free in the homes. Corzine says it is hard to estimate the value of properties with inmates for neighbors, but he believes the state?s money could be better spent elsewhere.

Corrections officials counter it?s helpful to have administrators next door in case of emergencies. Prison administrators earn a minimum of $91,000 annually.
