Gov. Jon Corzine and his Republican challenger Chris Christie appeared in the same room together for the first time since the gubernatorial primaries.
Corzine and Christie spoke at the statewide dinner of the Employee's Legislative Committee. The two only appeared on stage together for a few moments.
Corzine portrayed himself as a friend of business to the group and warned against falling for election year false promises.
"Our number one priority, our number two priority, our number three priority is the economy and most importantly creating jobs out of that economy," said Corzine.
Christie went on the offensive and called the governor out of touch.
"The person who is not making the hard choices for the state of New Jersey was just here a little while ago," he said. "Jon Corzine is not making the hard choices. He's making the wrong choices for New Jersey."
