Soil contamination concerns have arisen at a second Paramus school just weeks after banned chemicals were found in the soil outside Westbrook Middle School.
Summer camp is set to begin at Memorial School Monday, but some parents are worried after learning the soil at the school is contaminated. The mayor says camp will not be held in the contaminated area. He says as soon as full testing is complete, the location will be cleaned up.
Earlier in the month, Westbrook Middle School was closed after the town learned of soil contamination at that facility.
Meanwhile, there have been repeated calls for the resignation of school Superintendent Janice Dime after it was learned Paramus school officials knew about the Westbrook contamination five months prior to the school?s closure.
Dime is up for a raise on her $200,000-plus annual salary on July 1. The school board could have a decision on Dime?s future Friday.
