New York City is once again a mecca for comic fans as Comic Con returns Thursday through Sunday for the first time in-person since 2019.
Comic Con is back this year after being entirely virtual last year.
Before guests can enjoy the world of cosplay, comics and collectibles, proof of vaccination must be shown. Once inside the venue, masks must be worn at all times.
Fans interested in attending the event can look forward to cosplay from SpongeBob to villains Venom and Carnage to the brand-new zone where gamers can go head-to-head.
With the countless comics and the endless collectibles from funk to fashion, there's no place like Comic Con for fans.
"This is honestly my true family. I've missed all the people, smiling, the jokes," said T.C. Smith, an exhibitor at Comic Con.
Although less crowded than years past, whether interested in the latest anime, Marvel, or Star Trek exhibits, many guests say they didn't miss the bumper-to-bumper traffic they've come to expect, and the homecoming itself seemed to mean more now than ever.
"It's been nice since after a year of not being able to do anything and be with people, it's nice to come as a collective together and enjoy something that we like together," said Jaida Skye, Comic Con fan.
Comic Con runs through Sunday, with some panels and screenings held virtually for fans at home.
