The cold weather continues tonight. Lows will dip into the teens and low-20s. The winds will remain breezy but not as gusty as earlier in the day. However, it will feel like the single digits at the bus and train stations on Thursday morning, so dress accordingly.
Thursday morning, sunshine will fade behind clouds. Temperatures will remain below average, with highs in the upper-20s and low-30s. A weak clipper system will bring occasional snow showers to the area, especially in northern parts of New Jersey. The best chance is probably between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
The time frame is a little inconvenient with motorists probably dealing with the passing squalls. A quick accumulation can't be ruled out, but it wouldn't amount to much. Side roads, sidewalks, driveways and parking lots could see a quick coating.
The clipper passes and the winds become more southwesterly. This allows temperatures, from the Carolinas to sweep up the East Coast.
The weekend looks to be on the warm side of seasonable for a change. But it comes with storminess. A system lunges towards New Jersey bringing rain with it for late Saturday.
The forecast is still a little murky for Sunday. Guidance is still not in good agreement with how to handle the atmosphere, but from what I'm seeing, a secondary storm does indeed develop. It develops out of our storm window, but close enough for snow showers to pass through.
Southern New Jersey, again, has a better chance at modest accumulations. Right now I'd venture a quick guess at 1 to 3 inches possible for Sunday. Flurries to a coating in other neighborhoods.
