NEW THIS MORNING:
A Blizzard Warning is now in effect for all of New Jersey. A Blizzard Warning means whiteout conditions are expected, and winds will frequently reach 35 mph or greater for several hours. Near-blizzard conditions are expected in the Winter Storm Warned area.
Changes this morning:
The storm is on track to become one of the most significant snowstorms in recent years for New Jersey. The Blizzard Warning has expanded westward to now include the entire state. Blizzard conditions are expected to develop this afternoon and continue through early Monday morning. Whiteout conditions are expected at times with snowfall rates of at least 2 inches per hour in the worst snow bands.
Tonight, wind gusts will reach 40 mph across much of the state with gusts as high as 55 mph along the shore and near the Hudson River.
Monday Morning:
Snow will begin to taper after 7 a.m., but travel will remain tough throughout the day due to significant blowing snow and drifting.
Total accumulations are currently projected at 12–18" for most of the state, 18-24" for the hardest hit areas between Long Branch & Toms River, with 8–12" expected further inland and to the south; while subtle shifts in the track are possible, we are locked in for a major impact event across the region.
