WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
Fair weather keeps the region relatively cloud free and the winds will be letting up progressing further and further into the nighttime hours. This should allow the temperatures to drop into the low to mid-30s, which is a few degrees shy of normal low of 39.
The skies should be sunny for just a few hours on Saturday morning. Clouds will be on the move and collecting quickly through the day. A fast-moving weather front will usher in rain around dinner time. The precipitation will be light and disorganized at first, but there should be a steady rain smothering most of the state by 9 p.m. and 10 p.m.
The rain will linger through the very early hours of Sunday and be gone by daybreak. The daily high for Sunday will be set very early Sunday morning. Once winds kick in, the temperatures will be dropping and dropping quickly. The winds will add an extra "bite" to the air so be prepared for wind chills, especially heading to the Giants game on Sunday. Kick-off temperature will be around 53 but the winds are going to be howling and sitting on the shady side of MetLife Stadium, making it feel very cold.
Next week is expected to be cold and windy. Is this a sign of the winter pattern to come? Winter could be the snowiest winter in five years.
