Where do we stand on the drought situation since we have been dealing with such an active weather pattern lately?
The last 30 days have been good to us. We are averaging between 0.25 inches to 1.75 inches of rain above the seasonable average around New Jersey. Yet, we still have a lot of ground to make up. In northern New Jersey, for example, we need about 16.84 inches of rain in three months to get us back to normal. In southern New Jersey, it's up to 17.14 inches of rain.
That is an improvement from a few weeks ago, but as you can see, we aren't out of the woods yet. And the pattern we are in is going to continue to chip away at the deficit.
Skies are cloudy with a few passing showers tonight. Lows are above average, near 48. Normal for this time of year is 40, but that onshore flow makes it feel raw.
Saturday is picking up where the last few days have left off. Overcast, breezy, damp and raw. This pattern is likely to continue through most of next week as well.
The consistent showery weather will likely let up on Monday morning. Sunny and breezy weather takes its place, but overall temperatures look to stay slightly below average in the 10-day outlook.
