A Monmouth County jury has found Paul Caneiro guilty in a quadruple 2018 murder in Colts Neck.
Paul Caneiro faces life in prison for killing his brother, Keith Caneiro and Keith's wife and two children.
Officials say that after the killings, Paul Caneiro set his brother's home on fire and then set his own home on fire in an attempt to cover up the crimes.
Prosecutors say Paul Caneiro killed his relatives because Keith Caneiro had discovered Paul was stealing money from their businesses and from him personally.
The jury deliberated for several hours before reaching the verdict.
Outside of court, friends and family members of Keith, Jennifer, Jesse and Sophia Caneiro gathered to remember their loved ones.
“There's not a day that goes by that I'm not thinking about her,” said Ripley Burgess, a friend of Sophia.
“She was a bright light grateful I got to know her. I miss her,” said Sophie Winkelmann, another friend of Sophia’s.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago spoke after the verdict.
“I know the impact this has had not only on the family, friends and the community at large in Monmouth County. But Keith, Jennifer, Jessie and Sophia have waited for over seven years for accountability to come forward,” said Santiago.
Sentencing will be on May 12.
