The town of Middletown welcomed a clone of the original Sept. 11 Survivor Tree.
The tree was donated by the New York City Parks Department and was placed at a memorial garden in Middletown. The original Survivor Tree was discovered severely damaged a month after the attacks at ground zero.
Middletown lost 37 residents during the 2001 attacks.
"It's always been a team effort with saving the tree from the beginning. We've had a lot of youth organizations involved with transplanting them into larger containers,” says Douglas Kniss, of Bartlett Tree Experts.
Families of Sept. 11 victims say they are happy to have the tree in Middletown.
This is the first cloned tree that NYC Parks has donated outside of the New York City limits.
