A Newark city employee was killed while sitting in a running car Sunday morning.
Khary Orr, 29, was fatally shot once in the head around 4:30 a.m. in front of his family's Eckert Street home in Newark. Though Orr was in the driver's seat, officials say it was not his car.
Authorities at the scene said the man had just dropped off someone at the airport prior to the shooting. Orr's brother says the victim spent the previous night watching the Giants game at a local sports bar.
Orr's friends and family are looking for answers and say they don't know who would have done this to the man. Police are investigating the shooting.
Mayor Cory Booker had a message for Newark residents after the incident. "If you love Newark, make a resolution right now ... that you're gonna do something different in '08 to bring peace to our streets," said Booker.
