The Chabad of Bronxville would normally be laser-focused on planning Rosh Hashana right now, but Ida had other plans.

The Jewish community organization is now trying to build back all that was lost from the historic storm.

At one point, the water rose over 5 feet, destroying holy books, children's toys and furniture.

Their biggest loss is their handwritten Torah.

Rabbi Sruli Deitsch, of the Chabad Jewish Center in Bronxville, tells News 12 that it's written on parchment with ink and a feather - and takes a year to transcribe.

"There's a lot of tears that are shed. There's a lot of loss that happens when you see situations like this and you know, you built this with your sweat and tears and then you see it just evaporate. It's very difficult to see," says Deitsch.

They hope people can donate and help them rebuild.
