The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey held a ceremony to honor some of its officers.
Medals were awarded to 84 officers for their service in protecting local communities. The ceremony was held Friday at Saint Joseph’s High School in Metuchen.
"I think it's a testament to what they do each and every day and the commitment and their dedication to what they do for the community and society each and every day. I think the public sometimes isn't aware of some of the heroic actions that people take,” says Port Authority Police Superintendent Edward Cetnari.
He says the officers have jumped into action within a moment’s notice to save lives or even help deliver babies.
