A rally in support of the 2020 Census was held in Union County on Tuesday.
Gov. Phil Murphy attended the event in an effort to make sure that all New Jersey residents fill out the census form so that they are counted.
Murphy said that New Jersey was undercounted in the 2010 Census, meaning that the state lost out on crucial funding.
“The Census matters enormously for our state. This is not just our representation in Congress. This is literally tens of billions in federal dollars,” Murphy said. “The question is, will they come to New Jersey or will they go somewhere else? We’ve got to make sure they come to New Jersey.”
