A frightening moment unfolded Saturday at the Community Center Fields in Fair Haven, Monmouth County, during a youth baseball game.
A large tree from a neighboring property suddenly fell onto the dugout area, narrowly missing players from the Middletown Hammers team.
A pop-up tent provided shade for the home team, potentially preventing injuries.
The force bent a viewing seat and damaged a chain-link fence, just inches from 10- and 11-year-old players.
No one was physically harmed.
