People in Edgewater are still feeling the impact of Friday’s storm as many wait for insurance adjusters to come out and assess damage on cars that were encased in ice. 

“The water rolled the windows down, so it must have short circuited the windows,” says Naomi Kroon, one impacted car owner. “And there's debris inside.” 

As temperatures plummeted into Friday evening, the flooded pond turned into an ice rink.  

Ice covered several inches of wheels, even covering the cab of a semi-truck. 

Residents say it's now a game of hurry up and wait.  

“I filed a claim. They haven’t been able to send anyone out because it has been sitting in flood water,” says Gabriel Mariani, another impacted car owner. “I don’t know if they are going to come out today or not because it’s still a sheet of ice.” 

By 10 a.m. Tuesday, the temperature warmed enough to turn that ice into a big pile of slush. 

Crews worked to salt and then clear the parking lot. 

Most of the cars are totaled, making it a less than desirable situation just a few days past Christmas. 

But most are in high spirits, and some are even looking forward to a new car. 

“It's tough on the finances especially since I’m buying a new house right now but it's OK,” says Mariani. “I have a baby on the way and I was not looking forward to putting a car seat in the back of a two-door Jeep.” 

It’s expected most of these cars are to be totaled as many would not turn on as residents hope to see some movement on their claims today.
