Tenants of a Newark apartment house got the scare of their lives Saturday night when a car crashed into the front wall of the building.
The car when right through the bricks, slamming into the basement of 356 Madison Ave. Luckily, no one lived in the basement.
Ernissa Daniel, who lives right above the basement, says the whole house shook. She says the boom uprooted her radiator from the floor and moved it.
Daniel?s mother Quenetta says they tried to get out of the building as soon as possible because they didn?t know if the car would explode.
Quenetta Daniels says police told her the vehicle was stolen.
The house has been declared unsafe to live in. Tenants spent the night at the YMCA, but some don?t want to stay there again and don?t know where they will live.
There has been no word from police on whether the driver of the car was arrested or charged.
