Authorities say a Kean University student is the second person to die in a car crash in northern New Jersey.
Authorities say 22-year-old Devon Smith of Newark was driving the car that crashed into a tree and utility pole in Caldwell on Tuesday night.
A passenger, 23-year-old Theo Walsh of East Orange, died at the scene.
A second passenger remains hospitalized.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
