Thursday was a busy day at the capital, as legislators packed the statehouse to discuss a slew of hot topics concerning the economy.
Lawmakers mulled the creation of an online database to make state spending public. The issue, spurred by nationwide attention to how stimulus funds will be monitored, was ultimately put on hold at the governor's request.
"That's going to take a lot of leg work to get up to speed, and in order to have a meaningful discussion before we get to that ... we'll respect those wishes," said Sen. Nicholas Scutari.
Lawmakers are also considering selling specialty decals to use on license plates to save money. Rather than make specialty plates on an individual basis, the decals would be administered through organizations. Currently there are more than 100 specialty plates that are made at a cost of more than $80,000 each.
