Some Bronx tenants voiced their frustrations Friday after they said the management office for their apartment buildings has been closed for over a year.
Residents at 1432 Crotona Park East said the management office at their building has been closed since last September.
The management company, Crotona Park Redevelopment LLC, told News 12 it closed for renovations due to flooding from Hurricane Ida. It said that some restorations were made but the office is still not ready to fully reopen.
Tenants say that one year is too long.
The management office also oversees the apartments at 1415 Bristow St. and 853 Elslemere Place.
Residents said with the office being closed, they are concerned that maintenance in the buildings is not getting done.
They also added that it's become a challenge to pay rent and to renew lease agreements.
In response to the tenant grievances the management company issued a statement that says, "There has never been an impact on lease renewals, which are ongoing, just as tenants are able to pay rent. Throughout the entire process, if there were any maintenance issues, a system was in place for reporting those, so maintenance could promptly address any issues."
The company also added that the office will reopen on Monday. But some residents said they need to see it to believe it.
The tenants of all three apartment buildings involved drafted a petition and are gathering signatures demanding that the management office here be open five days a week.
