Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark says a Bronx man was sentenced for shooting his former girlfriend in the face in a jealous rage outside a Highbridge nightclub.
Arturo Paulino, 30, will serve 17 years behind bars and five years post-release supervision for shooting the 39-year-old woman at point-blank range at Ogden and University Avenues in June 2023.
Prosecutors say Paulino waited for his former girlfriend outside the club and saw her get into her vehicle with a male friend. Paulino drove up next to her and fired his gun.
EMS took the 39-year-old to NYC Health+Hospitals/Lincoln, where she fought for her life. She suffered a broken jaw and lost multiple teeth, resulting in 2 1/2 years of reconstructive surgery, the DA says.
Paulino pleaded guilty to attempted murder on Nov. 10, 2025.
"The victim has undergone eight reconstructive surgeries and was unable to work, causing a profound financial impact on her family,” said DA Clark. “Her grievous injuries may never completely heal. Hopefully, she will take some solace in the 17-year sentence the defendant received for this heinous crime.”
