Middlesex County officials are warning the public about a recent scam targeting Verizon and Xfinity customers.

Authorities say scammers are contacting potential victims by phone, text and email.

The scammers try to obtain login information by making false claims about failed payments, changes to terms of service and available credit.

Those who receive any suspicious messages are urged to report the number as junk and make a report to local police.

Officials also remind residents to never click on an unknown link in text or email.
