Firefighters in Bridgeport are joining the effort to fight childhood cancer, including one member who survived the illness himself.
Daniel Wresilo has been with the Bridgeport Fire Department for several years. His father held the same job for 30 years before him.
Wresilo is a leukemia survivor, and that's why he's joined his fellow firefighters in organizing a T-shirt fundraiser to benefit The Tommy Fund.
The charity has been in operation for 70 years providing help to patients locally.
Bridgeport Fire Department's fundraiser will take place on Saturday at the Original Vazzy's on Broadbridge Road from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
