The Bridgeport Marines Toys for Tots campaign is asking for the community's help to reach their goal.

The campaign serves families in Bridgeport, Trumbull, Stratford, Shelton and Monroe, but organizers say they are drastically low on donations this year.

The campaign has about 840 families registered to receive toys this holiday season.

"Every kid matters. Sometimes they don't want to disclose their financial struggles, but I know what it's like being there. My daughter is a cancer survivor and ended up not having a job for two and a half years, and the organization provided to me and my family, and it is very much needed," said Ana Plaza, assistant coordinator for Bridgeport Marines Toys for Tots.

Donations are being accepted until Dec. 22.
