News 12 New Jersey's Tony Caputo has confirmed that the business raided by ICE agents in Newark Thursday is Ocean Seafood Depot on Adams Street.
He spoke with an employee on her way to work this morning and said it was a “nightmare” on Thursday. A news conference is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. with officials from Newark who call the raids of violation of rights.
Newark Mayor Ras Baraka blasted the Trump administration following the raid.
"Today, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents raided a local establishment in the city of Newark, detaining undocumented residents as well as citizens, without producing a warrant. One of the detainees is a U.S. military veteran, who suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned,” Baraks wrote.
The mayor continued, “This egregious act is in plain violation of the Fourth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees 'the right of the people be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures. Newark will not stand by idly while people are being unlawfully terrorized."
