The star Bridge-Gate witness testified Thursday that Gov. Chris Christie helped the mayor of Jersey City win his mayoral race.
Former Port Authority official David Wildstein testified that the governor helped Steve Fulop win his office by trying to keep a competitor out of the race.
Wildstein said that Christie wanted a $1 million grant to be given to the Hudson County Urban League in an effort to keep New Jersey Sen. Sandra Cunningham from challenging Fulop in the race. The governor pushed for the funds on Fulop's behalf, according to Wildstein.
Mayor Fulop's office says the mayor did not have any knowledge of any conversations regarding the grant. A spokesperson says the Urban League is a nonprofit group.
Sen. Cunningham says that she did not run for mayor because she simply decided not to.
