Visitors entering a Catholic elementary school in Brick Township must now provide a fingerprint or driver?s license and answer the question, ?Are you a sex offender??
The procedure is part of a new security system at St. Dominic School on Van Zile Road. All visitors must answer the question at the computer check-in at the school?s front office and give their driver?s license to the attendant. Regular visitors can opt to give a fingerprint instead of a license.
The license or fingerprint is scanned into the system, where it is compared to the National Sex Offender Registry. Attendants say if a visitor lies and is in fact an offender, they must call police immediately.
Many parents say they don?t mind the extra procedures.
The system cost the school approximately $1,500 with a $95 annual subscription fee.
