A Cranford Township Committee meeting took an unusual turn Tuesday when a man calling himself “Bong-Holeo” approached the microphone for the second month in a row dressed in a giant purple bong costume.

The man took his turn about 45 minutes into the meeting and initially struggled to position himself at the microphone.

“I can't bend my knees,” he said.

“Sir, please leave the microphone alone,” Mayor Kathleen Miller Prunty said.

“Am I on TV right now?” the man then asked while eating from a bag of chips.

He spent much of his allotted time playing a musical recording. The recording played for about three minutes before smoke began billowing from the top of the man's costume.

A loud beeping sound resembling a smoke alarm followed, along with a recorded voice saying, “Warning, move to fresh air.”

The man continued holding his phone to the microphone until his time expired and he left the podium.

It was not his first appearance before the township committee in the costume. Last month, he addressed the committee accompanied by a baby who was also dressed as a bong. He later sang a Lizzo song.
