An Essex County family was forced out of its home Thursday after its boiler exploded.The explosion occurred in Bloomfield at the family's home on Prospect and Olive streets. Bloomfield Fire Chief Thomas Pelaia said the home is uninhabitable due to the damage. Pelaia said there is significant damage inside the home, including crumbled walls and a collapsed staircase.Fire officials say one firefighter was injured when the staircase collapsed. According to officials, the firefighter was taken to the hospital for treatment and released.The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
