Repairs continue on a water main break in Cliffside Park caused by an accident with a 600,000-pound construction crane.
The boil water advisory previously issued for Cliffside Park, Englewood Cliffs and Fort Lee has been lifted. However, residents in the areas immediately surrounding the area of Anderson Avenue should continue boiling their drinking water.
Water service has been restored to almost all residents, thanks to emergency water pipes installed by United Water.
Cliffside Park officials are working on a reserve 911 system to communicate to all residents when repairs are fully complete.
Authorities say the accident happened Wednesday morning when the crane's boom was lowered to the ground for repairs to a sensor. Crews began to raise the boom when they noticed water coming out of the street.
The weight of the crane damaged the 24-inch water main.
