Body believed to be Weehawken missing kayaker found
Vermont's State Police Marine Unit and Dive Team has located a body believed to be that of a missing kayaker from Weehawken in Lake Champlain.
The body was recovered late Wednesday afternoon in the water near Shelburne Point.
It's thought to be Eric Plett, 41, who was last seen in the area back on July 2.
The group he was kayaking with reported his kayak capsized and he planned to swim back to shore.
Platt, who wasn't wearing a life jacket, was last seen holding onto his overturned yellow kayak.
The body has been taken to the chief medical examiner's office in Burlington for positive identification.
An autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
AP wire services helped contribute to this report.
