A married father of two from Bloomfield has been arrested for allegedly exposing himself to a child.

Fidel Arias, 41, allegedly exposed himself to a 9-year-old girl on her way to school from his living room window at 11 Elmwood Ave. The alleged incidents date back to September 2008. Investigators say they went unreported because the child was confused.

"She wasn't sure what it was, what it was he was holding," says Assistant Essex County Prosecutor Deborah Freier. "She's only 9 years old. She really wasn't sure what she was seeing."

Arias was finally picked up on Jan. 13, allegedly after showing the child his face in addition to his privates.

The 41-year-old faces a slew of charges for the accusations, including sexual assault, endangering the welfare of a child and lewdness. He faces 14 criminal counts in total.
