Winter Weather Advisory in effect until late tonight for Western Ulster and Sullivan counties.

Snow is expected with a range of 2 to 6 inches possible. Isolated slightly higher amounts will be possible in the higher elevations of the Catskills.

Roads, bridges and overpasses could become slick and hazardous as snow comes down. Expect slippery road conditions for the late morning to evening hours. Snowfall rates of up to 1" per hour are possible.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

A storm system will be moving into the Northeast today, bringing a threat of rain and snow to the Hudson Valley.

Shower activity will start towards the tail end of the morning rush (for the western counties and then move east) and become widespread by the midday hours.

The afternoon rush could face slick and slippery travel conditions, especially on overpasses, on/off ramps and less traveled roads.

Rockland & Westchester counties will face mostly rain showers with a chance of seeing some snow accumulation north of I-84.

The system pulls away from the region by the evening hours, with shower activity fading away and then skies starting to clear out.

Gusty winds will follow for Thursday and linger into Friday.

Another system will likely come through over the weekend, bringing snow for Sunday morning.
