A high school student from Oakland, Bergen County has created a
website -- an online
student-led multimedia platform that features resources about teen health.
What started as a passion
project in English class for Valeri Guevarra turned into a hub for reliable
news and information.
Guevarra, who goes to
Indian Hills High School, created the website
teenhealth101.org.
The content is factual and
simplified for readers.
"A lot of teens are on
social media,” says Guevarra. “I kind of realized how dangerous it
is for all the spread of misinformation to be targeted toward them, that's kind
of contributing to negative body image. I kind of wanted to create a sort of
platform that all teens could use that kind of provides accurate, but
simplified information. So, teens could understand it."
Guevarra says the website
really expanded last summer.
