The Leonia Police Department has release dashcam video of a high speed chase that led police officers through several Bergen County towns.
The incident started Sunday afternoon in Englewood Cliffs. Police say Sereymanta Kong, 22, pretended to be in duress when a good Samaritan stopped to help him. He allegedly repaid the favor by stealing her car, forcing her two children from the vehicle.
Police officers were able to stop the stolen car, and that's when Kong allegedly stole a police cruiser and fled the area. Kong then allegedly led police on a high-speed chase through several towns and it is all caught on a Leonia police cruiser dash-cam.
The video shows police officers from several towns pursing the stolen cruiser. At various times the pursuing officers are forced into oncoming traffic. Other motorists are seen trying to avoid the chaos. The chase ends after the Leonia cruiser bumps into the stolen car, forcing it off the road in Paramus.
Kong then allegedly tried to run away on foot, but is caught by officers and arrested. He now faces at least 17 different charges.
