Another unofficial summer season is coming to a close at the Jersey Shore.
Beachgoers can expect great weather all day Monday as many head to the beach.
Jersey Shore beaches saw good crowds all weekend, and the crowds are expected to continue throughout Labor Day.
News 12 is told social distancing will be monitored by beach officials.
"I think people got here earlier this year to get a spot and get their six feet of space," says Meg Sherman, of Robbinsville.
With everything that has gone wrong so far in 2020, New Jerseyans made the best of their time this summer at the Jersey Shore.
"Being a local down here I think the difference was for me people on the beach after hours. Usually the out of towners would go home at 4, 5, 6 p.m., but because of COVID, there was nowhere to go, so they would stay down longer," says Phil Cammarota, of Belmar.
The 2020 summer season has certainly offered its share of challenges.
Merchants tell News 12 the weather cooperated not only this weekend but for most of the summer.
"Mother Nature has a lot to do with it. We only had one Saturday when we had rain. There was one Sunday. Business from July on was excellent. I couldn't ask for a better season," says Tom Rogers, of Mamalukes.
Despite it being the unofficial end of summer, some beaches will continue to remain open. Asbury Park is one of a handful of beach towns that will continue to provide lifeguards through September in an effort to extend the summer season.
