A Bayonne teen was behind bars Monday night after she allegedly killed her newborn baby.

The Hudson County prosecutor says 19-year-old Rocio Leon gave birth to a baby girl Friday inside her family?s home on East 22nd Street when no one was around. Investigators say family members later took the teen to the hospital after she complained of stomach cramps.

After examination, doctors at the Jersey City Medical Center determined that Leon had given birth and contacted Bayonne police.

The teen?s brother said police found the baby?s body inside a clothing storage container in Leon?s room. The prosecutor says the baby died of blunt force trauma to the head and asphyxiation.

Leon?s brother says his family didn?t know of his sister?s pregnancy. He adds his family is devastated.

Leon is being held in the Hudson Corrections Center in Kearny.
