Authorities: Teen killed when dirt bike crashes into state park canal
Authorities say a 14-year-old boy was killed when his dirt bike crashed into a canal at a state park in Mercer County.
According to authorities, the boy was riding today with a group of friends in Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park in Lawrenceville when he lost control of his bike and veered into the water.
Authorities say a passerby stopped to assist the boy, who suffered a head injury.
The boy was flown to a hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later.
His name has not been released. Authorities say grief counselors would be available Wednesday at the Lawrenceville Middle School, where the boy was an eighth-grade student.
