If you've ever wanted a signature scent, a Newark boutique offers the chance to create one yourself.
News 12's Jennifer Portorreal visited Pooka Pure & Simple Boutique and Blend Bar, where customers can mix, match, and blend a fragrance that is uniquely their own.
"There's nothing like wearing your own scent. So that's what you're going to do here at the Bloom Bar," said Dawn Fitch, founder of Pooka Pure and Simple. "We're also immersed in the local community, so there's a lot of laughing, a lot of conversation, a lot of food, and just a lot of fun."
The experience starts with a quiz designed to help determine what kind of scent you're looking for, whether it's fruity, floral, earthy, or something in between.
Next, you sample different fragrances, choose your favorites, and learn how to blend them into a custom scent.
Before you leave with your one-of-a-kind perfume, you even get to give it a name.
Fitch started the business 26 years ago in her kitchen, creating natural products after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
"I wanted better things for me on the outside because I knew they were all on the inside. So I started making clean products, and it took off," Fitch said.
Today, Pooka also offers body butters, oils, scrubs, and a space for community gatherings and special events.
