Another Newark-bound flight has been diverted because of a disruptive passenger.

The FAA says a United Airlines flight traveling from Milan, Italy, to Newark was forced to land in Maine on Tuesday due to an unruly passenger.

The plane landed safely around noon.

The incident comes just days after another Newark-bound flight was diverted because of a disruptive passenger.

In that case, an American Airlines flight from Dallas to Newark was rerouted to Baltimore on Sept. 3.

Authorities say the passenger was restrained with duct tape and zip ties after causing a disturbance onboard.

Maryland police arrested 67-year-old Arthur Lundeen of Arizona and charged him with disorderly conduct and second-degree assault.

Paramedics treated him for an open wound on his arm.

The FBI is investigating that incident.

According to the FAA, airlines have reported about 1,200 unruly passenger incidents this year.

The agency says penalties can reach $43,000 per violation, and criminal charges are also possible.
