The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office has announced a man who taught music to children has been arrested and charged with sexual assault against one of students, who is under the age of 13.

According to police, Fernando Valladares, of Kearny, sexually assaulted the child on multiple occasions while he was giving music lessons.

Police say the alleged incident happened in Lyndhurst.

Valladares is charged with one count of second-degree sexual assault by sexual contact and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

He was transported to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court.
