Authorities have released the name of a New York man killed when a truck hit an overpass on a northern New Jersey highway and dropped its cargo box on a car.
Rutherford police say 39-year-old James Hart III, of Bronxville, was driving the car westbound on Route 3 when the accident occurred around 2 p.m. Monday. He was trapped inside his vehicle, and was pronounced dead a short time later.
The truck driver, 50-year-old Ali Mutakabbi of Clifton, was not injured in the accident.
The accident remains under investigation, and no charges have been filed so far.
The crash forced authorities to shut down stretches of the highway for several hours, as crews worked through the overnight hours to repair the damage.
