The former NYPD detective who allegedly shot and killed a man during a road rage incident on the George Washington Bridge has posted bail, according to New York City Department of Corrections records.

Victor Romero, 62, posted his $1 million cash/bond bail on Friday - just three days after the alleged killing of 46-year-old Koran Irvine, a Con Edison worker from Rockland County.

Prosecutors say Romero was tracked down and arrested at his place of work in Manhattan a day after the shooting. He did not call 911 and he did not turn himself in, the Manhattan District Attorney's Office alleges.

Romero, of Haverstraw, was initially charged with murder but was arraigned on a first-degree manslaughter charge on Wednesday.

The Manhattan D.A.'s office says surveillance video of the shooting showed Romero driving his company car, trailing Irvine's vehicle after a near collision.

According to prosecutors, the footage then captured Romero pulling up beside Irvine on the outbound upper level of the bridge and firing a gun.

Investigators say Irvine was shot in the rear right shoulder. He died at Englewood Medical Center.

Irvine, of Valley Cottage, was a father of two and had just celebrated 20 years with Con Ed when he was killed.

Irvine's sister, Zeria Irvine, spoke about the tragedy outside the courthouse after Romero's arraignment. Cameras were not allowed in the courtroom.

Zeria Irvine says her brother was a devoted father and husband who was simply on his way home from work when he was killed.

"My brother is a hero. He's my hero, and I talked to him every single day on that commute he does to go home," Irvine said.

Romero, also of Rockland County, retired from the NYPD’s Narcotics Borough Brooklyn North in 2001.

News 12 reached out to the NYPD and the CCRB for additional details surrounding the circumstances of Romero's retirement and is awaiting a response as of Saturday evening.
