An Atlantic City man has been arrested and charged with murder in the 2009 shooting death of another city resident after investigators reexamined the cold case, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Members of the U.S. Marshals and the prosecutor's Major Crimes Unit took 44-year-old Billie Woods into custody on Thursday. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The case dates to June 3, 2009, when Atlantic City police responded around 12:30 a.m. to reports of a shooting near 227 N. South Carolina Ave. Investigators found 32-year-old David Nesbitt with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors said detectives spent the past several months reexamining the cold case and its evidence and determined there was probable cause to charge Woods.

An Atlantic County grand jury indicted Woods on one count of first-degree murder on July 14.
