A gas leak triggered a deadly fire Friday night at a building in Eastchester, according to authorities.
Officials received a call of strong gas odor just after 12 a.m. Fifteen minutes later, an explosion occurred as FDNY inspected the building.
A total of 15 people received medical treatment. Eleven of them sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
Crews pronounced one person dead at the scene and rushed another to a hospital in critical condition.
One firefighter was also hurt, according to authorities.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation as of Saturday morning.
