An arrest has been made in connection with the deadly stabbing that took place in a ShopRite parking lot on Springfield Avenue.

Julius Gaines, 56, is now in custody following the incident which occurred around 7 p.m. Monday night.

The stabbing resulted in the death of 56-year-old Rodney Mayes from East Orange.

Authorities have indicated that the attack followed a verbal dispute, though specifics of the altercation have not been disclosed.
