Workers have walked off the job at major airports around the country, including Newark Liberty International Airport.
The workers walked off their job and onto picket lines at around 9 p.m. Wednesday. The workers mostly include cabin and airport cleaners and are subcontracted by the airport.
The strike is expected to last through Thursday.
They held a rally outside Newark Liberty and are calling for better treatment and safer working conditions. They also want to earn a higher wage and are hoping for $15 an hour and better benefits. They also would like to see an end to what they call local unfair labor practices.
The strike also affects airports in Chicago, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
