Animal advocates will gather out east today to push to ban the sale of certain animals at pet stores.
The group will ask Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign the Puppy Mill Pipeline bill.
The legislation passed this spring.
The bill bans the sale of dogs, cats and rabbits at retail pet stores.
If signed by Gov. Hochul, the bill would give stores the option to partner with area shelters and rescues to adopt animals.
Opponents have said the bill would do more harm than good to businesses.
